| Police at a Los Angeles university campus may have prevented a tragedy when they detained a deranged student later found to have a shotgun and bomb-making ingredients in his dorm room, Reuters reported. David Everson, 22, was detained on Jan. 3 after a counselor alerted police at California State University, Northridge, that the student could be a danger. "He made direct threats to commit bodily harm or kill seven people," said Police Chief Anne Glavin. "They were all named." Police found the shotgun, along with ammunition, in Everson's room the same day they detained him. Everson was arrested upon his release from a mental health facility. Police went back with a search warrant the next day and found the bomb-making ingredients. On Friday, he pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing ingredients to make a bomb and having a firearm on campus. |

| A poll of thousands of British women show that mothers of newly born children will spend 18 months on average to recover from what's called baby blues and start to "feel like a woman again," the Daily Mail reported. A parenting advice website notes that although 18 months are the average, recovery for many women will take longer. |

| Giving babies antibiotics before they reach six months of age could increase their risk of developing asthma by more than two thirds, according to a new study from Yale University reported by the Daily Telegraph. The results showed early antibiotic use led to higher asthma, even if the children had never had chest infections and had no history of asthma in the family. |
