| Qingdao started free sea burials from Oct. 1, and the first occurred in Shandong Province. The sea-burial ceremony was held at the open-water area of Damaidao on Oct 23. 427 boxes of bone ashes were spilled into the sea, and their 1,200 relatives joined in the ceremony. The supporters think sea-burial is green and economical. However, some oppose it. They think the dead can only receive peace after being buried. There are also some people who think bone ash pollutes the sea, but the professionals disagree. |
從10月1日起，青島市在全省率先實行骨灰免費撒海（海葬）活動。23日，免費海葬政策后的首次海葬活動在大麥島外海海域舉行，427具逝者骨灰被撒向大海，1200余名逝者家屬海上送別親人。支持者認為海葬綠色、環保、節儉，但在如潮好評背后，保守人士認為海葬“不是入土為安”，甚至認為“骨灰對大海有污染”。不過，專業人士稱骨灰對大海不會造成污染。 |

| A 21-year-old woman became mentally abnormal on a T131 train from Dalian to Shanghai on Oct. 30, the Peninsula Morning Post reported. She took off all her clothes and ran out of the washroom. A dozen male passengers surrounded the woman and took photos or shot video of her, despite the woman's screaming. The train conductor criticized them as "too immoral and too obscene." A law expert said that photographing a person naked is illegal without the person's permission. |
《半島晨報》消息，10月30日，在大連開往上海的T131列車上，一名21歲的女子突發精神病。她脫光身上的衣服，赤身裸體從洗手間跑了出來。10多名男性乘客不顧女病人尖叫，圍住她用手機拍照攝影。列車長怒斥這些乘客“太不講道德，太猥瑣了”。一名法律專家說，除非被拍攝者允許，其它任何拍攝他人裸照的行為都涉嫌構成違法。 |

| The Beijing News reports that police have advised citizens in Beijing to repeatedly dial the 110 emergency number in situations where they're unable to speak. The police will locate the source of the alarm with the help of telecom companies and take action. |

| A survey by All China Federation of Trade Unions shows that a total of 23.4 percent of the working population had no salary increase during the past five years, the People's Daily reported. The income disparity between different industries is also becoming alarmingly polarized. Meanwhile, the working middle class in most Chinese cities are suffering from a relatively high income tax rate, which cancels whatever income increases they received, if any. Tax reduction for the middle class is being urged to increase the wealth of this social stratum. |

| A new survey suggests that 33-year-olds are the busiest and struggle more than any other age to balance work, family and social activities, the Daily Mail reported. There is so much to do that a third of 33-year-olds say they get an average of only five hours sleep a night. Two thirds claim that they spend more than 38 hours a week in the office. Ninety percent of 33-year-old women in the survey said they thought they were busier than men of the same age. The good news is that once we hit 55 the pressure decreases, largely because our careers have peaked by then and children have left home. |
