China has more than 199 million vehicles, among which there are around 85 million cars. 20 million vehicles are added every year, according to the communication management bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, the Guangzhou Daily reported. China has become the second largest auto country, following the US, which has around 250 million vehicles. |

Somali pirates seized control of the German-owned merchant vessel Beluga Fortune in the Indian Ocean on Sunday, Reuters reports. It was not immediately clear how many crew members were aboard at the time the ship was commandeered by pirates, nor what it was carrying. On Saturday afternoon, pirates had grabbed a Singapore-flagged liquefied petroleum gas tanker, MV York, off the coast of Kenya. The European naval force, EU Navfor, said the vessel had a crew of 17. |

The Arman newspaper quoted the Iranian senior education official Abolfazl Hassani Sunday as saying, "Expansion of 12 disciplines in the social sciences like law, women's studies, human rights, management, sociology, philosophy... psychology and political sciences will be reviewed," Reuters reports. He said, "These sciences' contents are based on Western culture. The review will be the intention of making them compatible with Islamic teachings." Hassani said Iranian universities will not be allowed to open new departments in these disciplines and the curricula for existing departments will be revised.

US Navy ships will also be deployed, as the president is staying in a hotel by the ocean. A senior Indian security official told the newspaper that there are two jumbo jets coming along with Air Force One, and the President's convoy has 45 cars. The Economic Times also reported that another 300 rooms have reportedly been booked in other luxury Mumbai hotels. The report also claimed Michelle Obama has been invited to visit Mumbai's red-light district to meet prostitutes and hear about their lives. |

A prostitute from Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, has been sentenced to seven months in prison after she tried to blackmail a policeman from Guizhou Province, Qianjiang Evening News reports. The policeman was in Wenzhou on business when he met the woman, who then called her boyfriend to tell him where she and the policeman were meeting. Her boyfriend and two other men arrived and stole the policeman's ID card, demanding 10,000 yuan for its return. The boyfriend was also sentenced to 14 months in prison, while his accomplices were given six months each. Police in Guizhou are still investigating the policeman's actions. |
