| Sangheon Lee, a senior economist from the International Labor Organization (ILO), told Legal Evening News that it is surprising to learn that China's private sector, which absorbs 30-40 percent of the country's wage employment, has a wage hike as low as 6.6 percent in 2009. This figure is about half of the official statistics that show China's overall wage growth has remained at 12 percent. Therefore, Lee concluded, the official figure is overestimated. Daniel Vaughan-Whitehead, another expert from the ILO, pointed out that China's official statistics only cover workers in state-run urban enterprises and ignore the low-paid workers in private companies. This has led to the disparity between the actual situation and official figure. |

| Google has a new feature that maps the entire human body, the Daily Mail reported. Called Google Body Browser, the hi-tech 3D application has been called a breakthrough in the study of anatomy. The gadget, which has yet to be officially released, allows exploration of the human body in much the same way Google Earth works. WebGL allows complex 3D graphics to be used on normal web pages without the need for specially adapted browser plug-ins like Flash or Java. The browser is used to dissect the human body and identify organs, bones and muscle groups. The body can be turned, manipulated and stripped to bare bones to show how its functions work and connect. |

| Frodo, the baby koala found with up to 15 shotgun pellets in her body, has amazed vets with her recovery, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. Frodo has overcome a fractured skull and internal injuries after being shot with lead pellets about a month ago. Vets from Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, where Frodo has been recovering, said she had gained 400 grams and was doing remarkably well. |

| A 6-year-old boy who was playing with matches ignited the prairie fire that killed 23 in Daofu County, Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garze, Sichuan Province on Dec. 5, according to authorities, Xinhua reported. |

| The widow of Florida businessman Jeffry Picower, Barbara Picower, has agreed to return $7.2 billion, BBC reports. Jeffry Picower, who died in 2009, was the single-largest beneficiary of Bernard Madoff's colossal Ponzi scheme. Barbara Picower said Madoff's fraud was "deplorable" and pledged to return funds accrued over 35 years of investing with Madoff. The $7 billion amounts to about one-third of the money investors lost in the scandal. |
